Here at Hunter Dunning, our Consultants are our shop window, and their Recruitment Consultant Profile is their information leaflet. They represent our brand on the “front lines” and are the soul of the business.
There’s more to our Consultants than just a voice on the other end of the phone. We will be introducing them one by one to our website visitors so you can get to know the person behind the voice. This week we caught up with Gaby.
Name: Gaby Montero
Job title: Interior Design Lead
Where are you from?
“I am from Costa Rica”
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“I wanted to be a dentist”
What training or qualifications do you have?
“I have a BA in Interior Design & MA in Italian Design”
Where did you work before Hunter Dunning?
“I worked as a Director’s Assistant while doing my MA in Florence, Italy and before that as an Interior Designer in Costa Rica”
Why did you choose to work for Hunter Dunning?
“Team culture! Also, I was given the opportunity to start the Interior Design desk and help designers find a new job they love. Coming from a design background I know how difficult it can be to find the right studio and real opportunities to progress within the industry. Now I get to facilitate those to opportunities and connect amazing companies with great talent. Plus I love chatting/working with people from all different cultures and backgrounds!”
What is the best thing about working at Hunter Dunning?
“The people and the support we get to develop and manage our own departments. The regular visits to our local coffee shop are a big plus too??”
How do you feel Hunter Dunning differs from other recruitment agencies?
“We are very honest and always try to put ourselves in our candidates/clients shoes when making a decision. We aim to deliver quality over quantity and cultivate long standing relationships. We’ve worked with candidates throughout their careers and some have eventually become our clients, which is a great thing to be a part of.”
What do you find most interesting working in the Interior Design sector?
“The different personalities and design perspectives I come across. I always learn so much from both candidates and clients. Also, the industry is tiny, everyone knows each other.”
How is the recruitment industry changing?
“Candidates are looking more and more for a good work-life balance and an employer that values them and their skills. With so many companies/brands offering such cool benefits like flexible hours, personal trainers and social events within the company, the candidates’ focus is shifting from joining a famous name to joining a team where they are genuinely valued and their creativity encouraged.”
What are your hobbies?
“Pilates & yoga, traveling the world and reading. I also love food but not sure if that classifies as a hobby?”
What word or phrase do you say the most?
“Can’t think of a specific word/phrase but I’ve been told I tend to over-exaggerate stories/situations. Must be the Latina in me.”
If you were an animal or a cartoon character what would you be and why?
“Kelly would say I’m a Koala; but anything that loves napping, I’d be happy to be.”
If you could rename Molly, what would you call her?
“Can’t imagine her being called anything else but Molly!”
