London Theme Park Designs Revealed

The London Resort has revealed a sneaky preview of the designs for the planned 500-acre theme park based on the Swanscombe peninsular in Kent.

The proposed entertainment complex was first announced in October 2012 and is now estimated to open in 2024 with construction beginning in 2021 (subject to planning) and an overall investment of £1billion. The resort will eventually become a two-park resort with the second park opening by 2029.

These visuals are the first to be released since The London Resorts recent partnerships with the ITV Studios, BBC and Paramount Pictures.

The park is planned to be 500-acre and to put that into perspective, that would cover the area of 136 Wembley stadiums, so it’s fair to say it’s going to be pretty big! The design is based around 6 different lands, offering next generation rides and unique experiences for its visitors and the around 70% of the attractions are said to be undercover – very convenient for us brits!

“We are creating a first-class theme park. A destination that maximises all the new, immersive and interactive technologies and experiences in the world,” said PY Gerbeau, Chief Executive of London Resort Company Holdings. He also stated that it will be the most sustainable theme parks on the planet.

The London Resort is one of the most ambitious theme park projects in Europe and will be the first European development of its kind to be built from scratch since the opening of Disneyland Paris in 1992. The phenomenal entrance to the park is said to be via a Grand Plaza and will lead guests through ‘The High Street’ full of restaurants, hotels, shops, a Convention Centre and a first-class waterpark.
