Client Meeting Training

On Tuesday this week, the team gathered in the breakout room at Hunter Dunning HQ to sit down for a formal ‘client meeting training’ session with Tracy Powley of Focal Point Training.

It was a bespoke training meeting designed to help the team develop their skills in planning and delivering client meetings. Its purpose was to ensure our Recruitment Consultants know how to best maximise the value of a meeting for both us and most importantly our clients.

Tracy Powley

Tracy Powley is Director of Operations at Focal Point Training. Alongside Stella Chandler, Tracy founded the company on the grounds of training being more than just a “one-off”. They believe that support both before and after is crucial to the learning process and relationship with its clients. Tracy has over 15 years’ experience in learning and development under her belt. She also holds the Certificate in Training Practice and is a member of CIPD.

Client Meeting Training

During the training, the team covered the following areas:

  • Positioning the meeting – Showing our client the value of booking a meeting with us
  • Planning for a meeting – Preparation, research and important information to take to the meeting
  • Structuring a meeting – Leading a meeting in a way that brings out all of the relevant areas of discussion for both parties
  • Discussing options and a proposed solution
  • Rapport building
  • Agreeing action point for both parties.


Hunter Dunning Managing Director, Joe Synes said: “We want to meet with all our clients, to build long term relationships with them, to really understand their business and recruitment processes. This will put us in a really strong position to represent them as a recruitment supplier and in turn allow us to provide the best possible service and to provide the best and most relevant candidates.”

Staff described this week’s training as “a really productive and engaging session”.

Our Recruitment Consultants will be having a follow-up session later this month. The session will put everything that was learnt yesterday into practice – including some role play to simulate client meetings.
