Town Planner Job in Fareham, Hampshire

Town Planner jobs in Fareham, Hampshire for a regional and reputable housebuilder. Offering a remuneration package of £20,000 – £50,000 + Profit Share Scheme + 25 Days Holiday.

Founded over 20 years ago, they are an independently owned housebuilder renowned for producing quality and affordable housing in the Hampshire area. Currently delivering circa 150 units per annum and they aim to double this in the next few years. They are looking to expand their Planning team and will consider a Town Planner, Senior Town Planner or Planning Manager from a housebuilder or consultancy background. The role will involve seeking planning permissions for one off bespoke developments or for 1000+ schemes forming part of a longer-term local regeneration scheme, offering a variety of different projects.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Full life cycle planning process from site inspection to receipt of planning permissions
  • Manage the submission of planning applications to Local Planning Authorities
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of Local Planning Authorities’ Planning policies and Local Plan Reviews for internal reference
  • Monitor and review local planning policy including strategies which take account of transport, the local economy, jobs, green infrastructure, renewable energy, climate change and the historic environment
  • Conduct appropriate research to inform planning applications
  • Liaise and instruct external engineers and other consultants and assist in the evaluation of their use by the Group
  • Assist in the production of Planning Sketch Schemes through liaison with architects
  • Collate and maintain evidence from public consultation meetings
  • Attend Planning Committee Meetings, Rights of Way Panels and Public Consultation Meetings to represent the company
  • Liaise with the planning and development teams to understand all necessary aspects and needs for operational development
  • Accurate and regular reporting to the Director of Regeneration.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience working as a Planner / Town Planner
  • Experience in addressing the general public as well as council officers and committee members in a public forum
  • Knowledge and experience in the planning processes and associated regulations
  • Planning or Surveying Degree or above or equivalent is desirable
  • MRTPI, MRICS or RIBA.
