Job Summary

Senior Town Planner Job Truro is an opportunity within an established architecture and planning firm in Cornwall. The role focuses on commercial and residential projects across the South within a multidisciplinary planning-led practice. This position will see you work alongside a small team of planners. You will prepare and submit planning applications while providing advice on planning matters. The role also includes land development assessments and attendance at internal and external meetings. You will monitor local and national planning policy changes throughout your work.

Monthly progress reporting forms part of the position, alongside close coordination with land and technical teams. Senior Town Planner Job Truro also provides the opportunity to support the Planning Director. The position suits an experienced planner from either the public or private sector. Development and progression opportunities are available within the established team.

About the Company

The company is an established architecture and planning firm working across the South. Its team of more than 20 includes planners, designers, architects and landscape architects. The multidisciplinary practice takes a planning-led approach to design across a diverse portfolio of work. Commercial and residential projects form the stated project focus for this Senior Town Planner position.

You will work alongside a small planning team while also coordinating with land and technical teams. The role includes support for the Planning Director and offers development and progression opportunities within the practice.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit planning applications as part of the firm’s ongoing planning work
  • Provide planning advice on relevant matters throughout the planning and development process
  • Complete land development assessments to support planning work across the practice’s portfolio
  • Attend internal and external meetings throughout the planning process with relevant project teams
  • Keep updated on changes to local and national planning policy affecting planning work
  • Prepare monthly progress reports covering the planning work and activity assigned to you
  • Work closely with the land and technical teams throughout relevant planning activities
  • Support the Planning Director with planning work across commercial and residential projects

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience working as a town planner within either public or private sectors
  • Degree qualified candidates are preferred for this Senior Town Planner position within the practice
  • Candidates ideally should be working towards Chartership with MRTPI stated for this planning role
  • Client-facing experience is required for working effectively with contacts throughout the planning process
  • Major development experience is required for the responsibilities included within this planning role
  • Renewable energy project experience is desirable alongside the required major development planning experience

Who Is This Role Ideal For?

This role is ideal for an experienced town planner with public or private sector experience. It suits someone comfortable preparing planning applications and providing advice on planning matters. Candidates should have experience with major developments and be confident in client-facing situations.

A degree is preferred, alongside progress towards MRTPI Chartership. Renewable energy project experience would also be desirable for this position. The role will suit someone able to work with planning, land and technical colleagues. It also offers development and progression opportunities within an established multidisciplinary practice.
