Senior Surveyor job in Oxford for a growing Planning Consultancy, leading on affordable housing viability assessments, cost planning and development appraisals for developers and Local Authority clients. Our client is offering scope for progression up to Director level and a competitive salary of up to £70,000 + 10% Bonus + Travel Expenses + Flexible/Remote working. Ideally, you will be MRICS qualified and a variety of backgrounds could be considered; from Consultancy, Estate Agency, Developer, Housing Association or Local Authority background.

Established over 5 years ago, and now a team of 23, they are an independent Planning Consultancy providing expert planning advice to land and property owners, developers and investors. They offer services in strategic planning advice, affordable housing viability assessments, site appraisals, planning applications, planning appeals and enforcement disputes. They negotiate with Local Planning Authorities and find solutions for their clients that result in successful and profitable outcomes.

As a Senior Surveyor / Associate you will be an expert in valuing existing land/property, viability assessments and cost plans for private sale and affordable housing development. They are a company focused on providing a good work-life balance, flexible/remote working opportunities, and development of their staff. Role & Responsibilities

  • Professional Lead on producing Affordable Housing Viability Assessments, Development Appraisals, Cost Plans, Property Valuations (Land, residential and commercial)
  • Line management or supervision of Development and Planners
  • Mentor junior staff through MRICS accreditation (If already MRICS accredited)
  • Develop new products/service offerings to complement the wider consultancy service in consultation with the Director
  • Client management & liaison (typically Developer and Local Authority)
  • Engaging with external stakeholders regularly, including challenging objections to AHVA, and defending assumptions and conclusions of the company’s reports.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ Years’ experience as a Surveyor
  • Must have commercial, residential, land valuation experience
  • Experienced in development appraisals
  • Experience in cost planning at viability stage
  • Affordable housing viability assessment experience
  • Experienced in leading and/or mentoring a team
  • Ideally MRICS qualified or MITPI
  • Own car and UK Driving Licence.
