Role & Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and submission of planning applications including pre-application discussions and negotiations with local authorities
• Manage planning appeals, Section 106 agreements, and discharge of planning conditions across multiple residential projects
• Provide detailed planning input during site appraisals and land acquisition stages to identify risks and opportunities
• Coordinate design and planning processes with internal teams and external consultants to deliver high-quality submissions
• Act as the primary contact with local authorities, stakeholders, and communities to support timely planning decisions
• Appoint, brief, and manage external planning consultants and technical specialists throughout project lifecycles
• Monitor planning policy changes and legislative updates, advising the business on implications and required actions
• Represent projects at planning committees, consultations, and hearings while supporting overall delivery strategies

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline with strong academic grounding in planning principles
• MRTPI qualification is strongly desired to demonstrate professional competence and industry recognition
• Proven experience managing full planning submission processes for residential development projects
• Background working within a housing developer or private consultancy environment is highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of UK planning policy frameworks and development management procedures
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders including consultants, local authorities, and internal teams effectively
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits and meetings
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present planning strategies clearly and confidently
