Job Summary

Senior Landscape Architect Job Birmingham is a senior landscape architecture opportunity. The role supports consultancy development while delivering University, Schools and Commercial Office projects from the Birmingham studio. You will support the Landscape Associate Director and Director with existing clients and standalone landscape commissions.

The position requires strong design skills, business sense, design management experience and proven project delivery capability. You will provide design direction, maintain quality control and support sustainable, environmentally responsible project outcomes. You will contribute across design, technical coordination, contract administration, site activity and project financial controls. Travel to Oxford and Leeds is required when bidding for opportunities across associated regional studios.

About the Company

This practice delivers landscape architectural services from its Birmingham studio and associated regional studios. Its existing landscape work largely includes University, Schools and Commercial Office sectors. Senior staff are expected to support quality assurance, environmental policies, health and safety requirements and internal design reviews.

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage landscape project design and delivery with senior leadership across the office and associated regional studios
• Provide clear design direction, quality control and a consistent design vision throughout landscape project delivery
• Maintain existing client relationships while developing new connections with property agents, consultants and contractors
• Prepare concept, detailed and technical landscape designs using CAD, BIM and hand drawing methods
• Coordinate technical information, statutory requirements, engineering disciplines and manufacturer information throughout project design stages
• Attend site, client and design team meetings while following agreed actions through completion
• Support project financial controls, client budgets and appropriate design solutions alongside the appointed cost consultant
• Manage and mentor staff, supervise team outputs and plan workloads within agreed timescales and reporting requirements

Skills & Experience Required

• At least five years post qualification experience as a Landscape Architect with Landscape Institute membership
• BA or BSc in Landscape Architecture or a related field
• Proven design management and project delivery experience across landscape architecture and public realm design work
• Strong drawing, presentation, written communication and verbal communication skills for internal and external audiences
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Google SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of technical standards, regulatory frameworks, environmental design principles and relevant health and safety requirements
• Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, Building Safety Act responsibilities and ongoing Building Regulations compliance requirements
• Ability to manage personal workloads independently, supervise others and maintain effective client and consultant relationships

Who Is This Role Ideal For?

This role suits an experienced Landscape Architect seeking senior design, delivery and consultancy responsibilities. You should have more than five years of post qualification experience and Landscape Institute membership. The position requires strong design judgement, commercial awareness and confidence managing multidisciplinary project information.

It also suits someone comfortable mentoring staff, supervising workloads and representing a practice to clients. You should be able to work independently while reporting regularly to landscape leadership. A driving licence is essential, while a CSCS card is listed as desirable.
