Senior Cost Manager job in Reading, Berkshire / Hybrid Working for an international and leading multidisciplinary consultancy, working on education projects in the South East across mainly Berkshire, Bucks, Surrey and Sussex. Salary £50,000 – £66,500 + Car Allowance £4.8k + Bonus + 28 Days Holiday + BH + Hybrid Working.

They are a leading global cost consultant partner and completely employee-owned in the UK, offering cost management, project and programme management, specialist consultancy and digital services. Delivering cost-effective and sustainable projects for their international client base. To be considered you must have a background as a Cost Manager with consultancy experience in either the education or healthcare sectors. The role will be reporting to Associate Director / Partner level and providing all core services on several interesting projects and mentoring Assistant Cost Managers or Cost Managers. This role offers further progression and genuine support from the team and wider business to achieve your career goals.

Role & Responsibilities

• Play an integral part in managing the commercial and contractual performance of projects
• Supply chain management and procurement strategy advice
• Selection and appointment of contractors
• Cost planning, to include cost budgets, appraisals, elemental cost plans, value engineering
• Interim payments
• Change Control in accordance with contracts
• Cost reporting and forecasting
• Assist in the preparation of early warnings, instructions and compensation events
• Promote formal dispute resolution and contract close-out strategy
• Develop commercial strategies
• Mentor Cost Planners / Assistant Cost Planners.

Required Skills & Experience

• MRICS or working towards
• Quantity Surveying Degree or similar
• Cost Management experience from a consultancy or client-side background
• Experience working on education or healthcare new build and major refurb/extension projects
• Strong Feasibility and Cost Planning experience
• Pre and Post Contract and commercial experience for large complex schemes ranging from £5m – £500m.
