Senior Buyer Job in Wilmslow, Cheshire for one of the UK’s largest independently owned, housebuilders, joining their busy commercial team in their North region. The role offers a competitive basic of up to £65,000 (Flexible) + Car Allowance £7750 – £8750 + Bonus. We are looking to speak to candidates at either Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement Manager level, ideally from a housebuilder background.

They are a housebuilder with a solid reputation as a professional development partner in the regeneration of communities, providing energy-efficient, sustainable homes across The Midlands and The South-East. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be managing the procurement of all materials within the region, ensuring the best competitive rates, within budget and delivered to the build programme/s.

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain effective supply sources
• Prepare accurate quantities and materials schedules
• Issue out enquiries and analyse quotations
• Place orders for material and plant for the housing developments using COINS and Excel
• Maintain purchasing information system, including house type changes and price increases
• Work closely with the commercial team to prepare the working budget
• Review invoice queries and resolve/respond in a timely manner
• Liaise with Site Management to co-ordinate material deliveries to enable construction work to proceed to agreed programmes
• Monitor, report and address material losses/damage/stock on-site to reduce excess expenditure
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements
• Attend site meetings to report on current procurement status
• Set up new sites on the buying system
• Negotiate prices for new and existing materials
• Resolve any design issues with working drawings by liaising with the Technical Department and
  suppliers
• Manage accurate plant hire reports including the company’s own plant.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experienced Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement Manager from a housebuilding background (residential new build main contractor background will also be considered)
• Experience using COINS is essential
• Understanding of working drawings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• UK Driving Licence and own car
• Commutable distance from Wilmslow, Cheshire.
