Job Summary

Senior Architect Job Southwark is an Architecture opportunity focused on residential and mixed use schemes within a collaborative London studio. You will work mainly on technically demanding stages, helping developed designs move smoothly towards construction and completion. The role combines team leadership, detailed design coordination, and hands-on production of clear technical information. You will work with consultants, contractors, and clients while keeping drawings and project information coordinated and practical.

Current Revit knowledge is essential, alongside confident AutoCAD use and a strong grasp of UK technical standards. You will also need experience guiding teams and managing detailed packages across complex projects. Senior Architect Job Southwark suits someone who enjoys solving technical challenges without stepping away from day-to-day project delivery. The position is permanent and full-time, with flexible or adaptable working arrangements open for discussion.

About the Company

This established architecture and town planning practice works across several UK studios and a broad range of sectors. Its portfolio includes residential, education, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and mixed use work, with sustainability considered throughout project development.

The Southwark studio offers a central London base close to major rail and Underground connections. The wider team works collaboratively and supports a positive balance between professional responsibility and life outside work. Development is encouraged through mentoring, structured learning, site exposure, technical reviews, and support towards professional accreditation. The practice also promotes inclusive working and can consider reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of technical delivery across residential and mixed use projects during later RIBA stages
  • Guide project teams while maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal colleagues
  • Develop coordinated technical information that supports construction, compliance, detailing, and efficient project delivery
  • Review consultant information carefully and resolve design coordination issues before they affect construction progress
  • Support projects through RIBA Stages 4, 5, and 6 while maintaining consistent technical standards
  • Use practical construction knowledge to develop robust details suited to medium and large scale schemes
  • Balance team leadership with hands-on project work, independent judgement, and confident day-to-day decision making

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong technical experience gained on medium or large scale architectural projects with complex coordination requirements
  • Current Autodesk Revit knowledge together with confident AutoCAD and Microsoft Office skills for project delivery
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations, relevant housing standards, and NHBC or LABC warranty guidance
  • Experience leading project teams and coordinating effectively with consultants, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to produce accurate construction information and manage detailed drawing packages through coordinated project stages
  • Technical experience across varied projects, ideally including schemes with construction values of £5m+
  • Experience delivering later RIBA stages within residential, mixed use, commercial, or similarly detailed project environments
  • Strong detailing skills with a sound understanding of current construction methods and practical design coordination

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000 – £60,000 salary
  • Flexible or adaptable working arrangements can be discussed
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay for additional family support
  • Mentor support, paid study leave, and contributions towards professional accreditation
  • Eye care supplement and confidential Employee Assistance Programme support
  • Regular CPD, site visits, and technical reviews for continued development
  • Extra birthday leave, free fruit, social events, and study trips

Who Is This Role Ideal For?

This opportunity would suit a technically confident Senior Architect who enjoys taking ownership of detailed project delivery. You should be comfortable leading others while remaining involved with drawings, coordination, and construction information. Strong communication matters because the role involves regular contact with consultants, contractors, clients, and internal project teams.

Experience on larger residential or mixed use schemes would align closely with the current workload. You will likely enjoy this position if you prefer practical problem-solving, clear technical standards, and collaborative working. It also offers a good fit for someone who values professional growth, wellbeing support, mentoring, and a strong studio community.
