Senior Architect / Associate - Hampstead, London

Working from modern offices, surrounded by vibrant culture of North West London’s design district, an opportunity is now available for a Senior Architect / Associate to join this award winning practice who is devoted to the well being and development of their staff.

Established 10 years ago, the company is a small practice with their main body of work taking place in London, but frequently work in the Home Counties and occasionally overseas. Typically their projects include; high-end residential, single houses with contract values ranging from £2million – £6million. They also typically work on projects such as new buildings for schools; mixed use schemes; social housing with special needs and residential developments in London.

Roles & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will start immediately on a permanent basis and will ensure the seamless running of Architectural projects is to a high standard and to take responsibility for the profitability and technical competence of such projects. You will assist the Partners in the running of the Practice and take an active role in the running of the office in fee projections and profitability, supervision and nurture of staff, and housekeeping issues. The main duties are to:

• Ensure each project is set up with an appropriate fee agreement
• Discuss fee projections with Managing Partner
• Agree staff resources for the project
• Define service level and level of information to be produced
• Administer Building contracts on site that require weekly site inspection reports
• Set up and maintain a project planner for each project
• Ensure that the work carried out is technically correct
• Responsibility for applying for all permissions relating to each project
• Review and check all health and safety matters for each project
• Issue fee notes on time
• Convene weekly meetings for team
• Assist in pre-commission submissions
• Ensure a set up and maintain a project plan for each project
• Negotiate fees and contracts for projects
• Take responsibility for own project running
• Produce planning, building regulations, working drawing and tender packages
• Carry out site inspections / contract administration

Required Skills & Experience

• 5 years minimum post qualification experience
• ARB/RIBA registered
• Experience with New Build projects and a proven delivery record
• Vectorworks proficient
• Experience of use of NBS
• Proven track record of excellent job running
• High standards of accuracy and presentation
• Good technical knowledge of traditional building details
• Awareness of recently developed technical details for construction
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Enthusiasm for developing work skills
• Experience with Conservation knowledge of Architecture / Construction in relation to Historical buildings is desirable
• Knowledge of Excel and Outlook is desirable
• Excellent design skills
• Able to work additional hours during peak periods is desirable

Salary & Package:

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a highly competitive salary ranging from £45,000 to £55,000.
