Quantity Surveyor required for a leading UK property group working for their development arm on new build and regeneration projects for communities in Edinburgh and The Lothians. The role offers a salary of up to £50k + benefits package.

Established for over 50 years the Group provide sustainable communities nationwide.
The Group has a diverse portfolio of development opportunities ranging from smaller regional sites to large scale placemaking projects across the UK, they are place makers, providing spaces for the retirement living sector, leisure, supported homes, independent living, and student accommodation. This role is varied and fast-paced working on multiple sites at one time and working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Review / adapt trade ‘Scope of Works’ prior to inclusion within subcontract enquiry
    documents
  • Negotiate with subcontractors to establish best price; select subcontractors, agree the scope
    of services and allocate work; ensure timely subcontract procurement to achieve programme
    dates
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment and submission of associated invoice to
    client
  • Chair and lead pre-package meetings; attend monthly client meetings and provide commercial
    representation
  • Manage S/C packages from enquiry to final accounts
  • Prepare site preliminary resource levels in conjunction with the Site / Project Manager
  • Prepare monthly CVR’s and present at monthly meetings
  • Draft E.O.T. notices and prepare loss & expense accounts
  • Factor in the implications of health and safety regulations
  • Identify commercial risks and help develop suitable responses, escalating where necessary
  • Monitor and control costs throughout the project, adhering to the budget
  • Liaise between site managers, project managers, site engineers and the client
  • Prepare summary reports for the client and other relevant stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 + years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential construction
  • Relevant qualification in the built environment
  • Commercial acumen
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time as part of a team
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills at all levels
  • Outline knowledge of forms of contract currently used within the construction industry
  • Computer Literate
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data; An understanding of market research methods and analysis
