Role & Responsibilities

• Lead Principal Designer duties across projects, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and pre-construction health and safety requirements
• Advise clients and project teams on health and safety matters, supporting informed decision making throughout design development
• Review project designs to identify risks and ensure mitigation strategies are embedded within technical solutions
• Support clients in preparing and issuing comprehensive pre-construction information in line with regulatory requirements
• Coordinate all health and safety activities during pre-construction stages, ensuring alignment across multidisciplinary teams
• Prepare and issue health and safety documentation upon project completion, ensuring full regulatory compliance
• Work closely with internal design teams to integrate safety considerations into architectural proposals
• Develop internal guidance materials, tools and best practice frameworks to support consistent delivery standards
• Engage directly with clients, enforcing authorities and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and compliance alignment
• Critically review design risk assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness and regulatory adherence

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum five years experience as a qualified Architect registered with ARB within the UK
• Proven experience acting as a Principal Designer on high-risk building projects across residential or commercial sectors
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM regulations and health and safety compliance frameworks
• Experience using AutoCAD or Revit to review and support technical design coordination
• Ability to assess complex design risks and provide clear, practical mitigation strategies
• Strong communication skills with experience liaising directly with clients, consultants and regulatory authorities
• Registered Principal Designer status or working towards certification would be highly advantageous
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car to support site visits and project coordination
