Our client is a medium size Architectural practice employing around 8-10 staff in their Islington studio, near Angel. The practice originated from the personal office of the eminent Architect Sir Basil Spence. After he retired, the partnership continued and developed specialist skills in designing in sensitive and historic settings and around listed buildings. Their focus is on new design, although they collectively possess considerable knowledge and expertise on historic buildings and their conservation.
The practice has recently completed new work in the Pavilion at Lords Cricket Ground, and is working on a number of luxury hotels in London, including the May Fair Hotel, Flemings and the Ritz. In 2007 they won the RIBA London Award for William Kent House, next door to the Ritz. They are also currently working in several prestigious casinos in London, each one within a listed building.
They are a lively, non-smoking office, currently based in a listed building very close to Angel underground station on the Northern Line. They always prefer their staff to be local London – that is, no long distance commuting from outside the city.
Our client is now looking to recruit a talented part 2 Architectural Assistant to join their team based in North London.
The successful candidate will be RIBA part 2 qualified with previous experience working within a UK based Architectural practice.
You will posses considerable technical knowledge of building construction, UK building regulations and their application. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of detail design, specification and scheduling of the building for a Design and Build contract.
The team will be working alongside structural and mechanical engineers, and landscape architects, and dealing with the local authority and English Heritage to ensure the successful outcome of this unique project.
You will be fully proficient on Vectorworks.
Employment will be based on a six month contract initially. Our client would hope that the right person will want to stay with them to work on other projects, and develop their skills in this practice environment.
Salary/rates will be dependent upon actual experience and abilities.
If you have the required skills and experience for this role please forward your CV ASAP to laura.stevens@hunterdunning.co.uk. (If you have any examples of work please email this also).
