Layout Designer/Housing Architect - Abingdon Oxfordshire

Offering long term career prospects and the chance to work on some great projects, this award winning practice, based in a truly stunning village location in Oxfordshire, have an amazing new role for a Layout Designer/Housing Architect to join the team.

The practice is based in the south of Oxfordshire in a stunning listed building on the riverside with some great views. Established over 25 years ago, they operate teams of Urbans designers, Planners and Architects; all working closely together to achieve a high level of planning approval.

This design led practice works on wide range of projects across residential, education, conservation and sustainable housing sectors. Due to the success of the residential team, they require a Layout Designer/Housing Architect to work closely with the Urban design team and help develop site layouts.

Role & Responsibilities

Working on layout designs for both contemporary and traditional housing on greenfield and redevelopment/regeneration schemes, and across a range of scales
Carrying out production of sketch schemes and feasibility studies
Preparing site layout designs for planning consent
Producing freehand drawings , technical detailed drawings and 3D freehand drawing layout designs
Supply input into Design and Access Statements, including an awareness of opportunities and constraints
Working as part of a team for the design process including liaison and coordination of members of staff and other design team members, consultants, suppliers and contractors
Managing work load to ensure the projects are delivered on time and to budget.

Required Skills & Experience

Housing layout designer or RIBA Part II Qualified
Experience in both contemporary and traditional housing on greenfield and redevelopment/regeneration schemes and a range of scales
Experience in preparing site layout designs for planning consent
Ability to produce freehand drawings as well as technical detailed drawings
Strong 3D freehand drawing layout design skills desirable, including an ability to achieve both coverage and density
Project management skills are highly advantageous
Working knowledge of housing regulations, Local Authority standards, CDM Regulations, and building regulations
Experience using Vector works, Adobe Suite and Sketch Up are desirable but not essential
Experience and knowledge of working with standard and nonstandard house types
Strong 3D freehand drawing layout design skills are desirable, including an ability to achieve both coverage and density

Salary & Package

The role would offer a salary of £25,000 – £31,000 dependent on experience, in addition to the following benefits:

A contribution pension of 3%
