Fire Engineering Team Leader Job Milton Keynes offers the opportunity to establish and lead a new consultancy division. The role focuses on fire strategies for low-rise residential and office buildings within the fire engineering and fire safety sector. You will become the first specialist fire engineering hire within an established passive fire protection business.

Working directly with the Managing Director, you will define technical standards, methodologies and quality processes for the new practice. You will lead project delivery while developing the team, service offering and client base. A steady pipeline of enquiries is already available through existing relationships and nationwide project delivery.

You will advise clients, design teams and internal stakeholders on compliant fire engineering solutions. This position combines technical delivery, practice development, recruitment, mentoring and direct influence over the division’s strategic direction.

This new consultancy division will expand its existing capabilities by delivering dedicated fire strategy and engineering advice. The successful candidate will receive established business infrastructure while developing a new specialist service.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead fire engineering design and strategy delivery across low-rise residential and office building projects
• Develop fire strategy plans for new buildings, conversions and other complex project requirements
• Apply Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999 and BS 7974 guidance accurately
• Advise clients and design teams on fire engineering principles, design decisions and regulatory compliance
• Support design reviews, technical submissions and ongoing engagement with relevant Building Control stakeholders
• Provide technical input covering evacuation, compartmentation, suppression systems and wider fire safety design
• Recruit, mentor and develop engineers while establishing the new team’s culture and technical capability
• Build the consultancy service offering, client base and market presence alongside the senior leadership team

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum three years of experience working within fire engineering or a relevant consultancy environment
• Proven experience preparing fire strategies and completing appropriate fire engineering analysis for clients
• Degree in fire engineering, related engineering discipline or an appropriate Level 5 fire qualification
• Working knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 7974, BS 9991 and BS 9999
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear professional reports and drawings
• Confident client-facing communication skills and the ability to advise senior internal and external stakeholders
• Associate IFE membership or equivalent professional grade, or evidence of working towards membership
