Commercial Manager Job in Surrey

Commercial Manager job based in Surrey covering Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex. If you are an experienced Commercial Manager from a housebuilder/contractor background then we want to hear from you. You will be joining a senior team in developing a new South Central region, reporting to the Joint Venture Director, contributing to their ambitious regional turnover target of £70m in 5-6 years, the role offers a negotiable salary and package, Circa £85k – £90k + Car Allowance/company car + Bonus, with progression up to Commercial Director level.

They are a subsidiary of one of the UK’s largest construction groups, and with 8 established regions in the UK, they offer stability and financial backing, this is an exciting role playing an integral part in developing their reputation as a quality developer within the region to communities, sub-contractors and joint venture partners alike.

Role & Responsibilities

  • The Commercial Manager will lead, manage and support all pre and post contract commercial activities for the South Central Region
  • Assisting their Local Authority Joint Venture partners in land acquisition, viability and planning
  • Agreement of JCT contracts between the company and Joint Venture Partner
  • Cost control and reporting from pre-contract to final accounts
  • Identify a suitable supply chain for the region for execution of the works
  • Negotiation and execution of consultant appointments, collateral warranties, novation, JCT, and Development Agreements
  • Workable commercial appraisals & solutions for site acquisitions
  • Ensure that commercial opportunity is optimised and converted as appropriate
  • Ensure the cultivation of long-term effective trading relationships
  • Playing a key role in the development of Project/Business strategy
  • Recruitment, management and growth of a commercial team

Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of the South Central Region mainly Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey is essential
  • Worked at Commercial Manager level for a housebuilder/contractor business
  • Experienced in Joint Venture Partnerships
  • Ability to manage full commercial management process from land viability through to supply chain and final accounts
  • Ability to effectively recruit, manage and mentor a team of Estimators and Quantity Surveyors as the commercial team grows
