The consultancy delivers multidisciplinary services across the North, Midlands and South East of England. Continued project growth has created a requirement to expand its Clerk of Works team. This position will support projects throughout Manchester while allowing the successful candidate to work remotely. The consultancy requires a dependable professional who can manage multiple inspections and maintain consistent quality standards. Candidates may have consultancy, housing association, local authority or other relevant client-side experience.

Role & Responsibilities

• Carry out Clerk of Works inspections across residential and commercial new build and refurbishment construction projects
• Act as the principal client contact for matters relating to workmanship, materials and construction quality
• Take responsibility for successfully delivering Clerk of Works services across all allocated construction projects
• Prepare clear and detailed written reports following every completed inspection and project site visit
• Monitor construction work against the required quality management system and agreed project requirements
• Identify defects, incomplete work and quality concerns from foundations through to final snagging stages
• Communicate inspection findings clearly with contractors, clients and internal multidisciplinary consultancy team members
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate records, reports and inspection schedules

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, Quality Manager or warranty inspector
• Demonstrable experience inspecting residential new build projects throughout different stages of the construction process
• Broad understanding of building materials, construction trades, working methods and relevant industry legislation
• Strong technical ability to identify defects, snagging issues and general construction quality concerns
• Experience assessing construction quality from foundation works through to completion and final snagging
• Excellent communication skills when working with contractors, clients and internal multidisciplinary project team members
• Consultancy experience is preferred, although housing association or local authority backgrounds will be considered
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for producing inspection reports, maintaining records and managing project information

Salary & Benefits

• Salary of up to £49,000
• Company car or additional £5,000 car allowance
• Mileage reimbursement at 45p per mile
• 25 days holiday, increasing annually to a maximum of 30 days
• Remote working with travel to project sites across Manchester
