Job Summary

Building Physics and Sustainability Consultant in Colchester is an excellent opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering high-quality technical solutions across the built environment. Working within the Engineering Technical & Design Management sector, you will support projects through energy modelling, sustainability assessments and regulatory compliance while collaborating with architects, MEP engineers and structural engineers. You will contribute to the continued growth of the Building Physics service, delivering technically robust solutions across a range of developments. Role & Responsibilities

• Carry out SAP and SBEM energy calculations together with dynamic simulation modelling using IESVE software across multiple projects
• Prepare overheating assessments in accordance with CIBSE TM59 and provide practical design recommendations for project teams
• Produce Daylight and Sunlight assessments supporting planning applications and technical design development for building projects
• Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers and structural engineers throughout all project design stages
• Provide technical guidance during client meetings, project reviews and sustainability compliance discussions across varied developments
• Support the continued development and growth of the Building Physics service through high quality technical delivery
• Maintain up to date knowledge of Part L, Part O, NABERS, BREEAM and wider UK building regulations

Skills & Experience Required

• Qualification in Sustainable Design, Environmental Engineering or another closely related technical discipline with relevant consultancy experience
• Approximately three years or more working within building physics and sustainability consultancy delivering technical project solutions
• Strong working knowledge of IESVE for building energy modelling, simulation and performance assessment activities
• Experience completing SAP assessments using Elmhurst software to support compliance with UK building regulations
• Excellent understanding of UK sustainability standards together with current planning and construction processes
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare accurate technical reports and present recommendations confidently
• Previous experience managing projects independently and building positive client relationships would be advantageous

Salary & Benefits

• Salary of £40,000 – £55,000 DOE
• Hybrid working with two office days each week in Colchester
