Role & Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of planning instructions from inception to decision across multiple development types
• Prepare and submit planning applications, prior approvals, certificates of lawfulness and related application documents
• Draft planning statements, site appraisals, EIA screening requests, scoping requests and technical reports
• Lead pre-application discussions with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and wider project stakeholders
• Advise clients on planning strategy, risk, programme implications and effective routes to consent
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary consultant teams to deliver accurate, timely and compelling planning submissions
• Prepare appeal statements, proofs of evidence and written representations for hearings and public inquiries
• Mentor junior colleagues while contributing to internal knowledge sharing and professional development

Skills & Experience Required

• Full MRTPI membership with at least five years post-qualification experience in town planning
• Strong experience managing planning applications and negotiating positive outcomes across different project scales
• Experience preparing and managing planning appeals through written representations, hearings or public inquiries
• Ability to manage client relationships and provide clear, commercially aware planning advice
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with persuasive report writing and document production ability
• Strong organisation and project management skills across a busy and varied planning caseload
• Sound working knowledge of national planning policy, planning legislation and related regulatory documents
• RTPI accredited degree or higher qualification in town planning or a closely related discipline

Salary & Benefits

• Salary of £50,000 – £60,000 DOE
