Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of the Clerk of Works service across all allocated construction projects
  • Manage project allocation across the team while ensuring agreed inspection and handover targets are achieved
  • Work with directors and senior management to support service quality, profitability and timely project delivery
  • Set performance targets for the Clerk of Works team and manage progress against agreed objectives
  • Act as line manager for Clerks of Works, supporting development, wellbeing and individual career planning
  • Review the quality, efficiency and timing of team outputs against established practice requirements
  • Provide practical support through regular site inspections, training sessions and internal CPD presentations
  • Promote consultancy services, identify project opportunities and attend appropriate networking or marketing events

Skills & Experience Required

  • Broad building industry knowledge covering construction materials, trades, methods and relevant legal requirements
  • At least three years of management experience gained within a professional construction environment
  • Proven experience directly managing, motivating and developing a team delivering professional services
  • Ability to manage a substantial programme while balancing client, contractor and resource requirements
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with strong attention to detail and quality
  • Strategic thinking, analytical judgement and practical problem-solving skills across multiple simultaneous projects
  • Proficient information technology skills with willingness to adopt new systems and working methods
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to construction sites across the United Kingdom

Salary & Benefits

  • £60,000 – £65,000
