A multi-award winning practice in Southwark best known for their expertise in the educational and commercial sector, are now looking to make a strategic appointment in the form of an Associate Architect/Associate Director Designate for their central London office. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and communication skills, whilst playing an active role in business development alongside the current team of Associates and Directors.

Established 28 years ago, the company is an Architectural and town planning practice run by ten Directors and five Associates, holding 60 members of staff collectively. With offices based in London, Sussex and Bristol, teams consist of a number of Architectural, Technological and Administrative staff, specialising in a variety of sectors such as; Housing, Education, Commercial, Community, and are experts at Master planning for both urban and rural sites. Over the years, they have been shortlisted for over 20 design awards including; 4 RIBA Awards, 4 Civic Trust Awards, 4 Residential Design Awards, and 7 Education Design Awards. With a recent move of premises, their new office is located in a beautifully converted railway arch of a bridge.

Role & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to take an influential lead in overseeing, managing and executing the London office’s commissions within the education, residential, commercial and community sectors. The appointed individual will be an accomplished designer who can think strategically and has the ambition to reach Director level within the foreseeable future. You will be responsible for generating new business and representing the company at networking events, therefore having a successful networking presence in London already is desirable.

Required Skills & Experience

You should currently be working at an Associate/Associate Director level within a London based practice and have experience winning work, with a proven track record of leadership and business development. The appointed individual will maintain a design presence and possibly join the practice internal Design Review Panel. You should have ambition, drive and the ability to motivate and mentor your team. Being able to identify team members strengths and help develop individuals talent is imperative.

  • Part III Qualified
  • A minimum of 5 years UK experience
  • Proven experience and confidence winning jobs
  • A strong networking history within London
  • Have experience of working on projects with a value of £5million +
  • Experience working on residential, educational and commercial projects
  • Able to demonstrate the above project types in a diverse portfolio of work upon interview
  • Highly articulate and able to communicate to clients and colleagues on all levels
  • Experience working on large developments/projects
  • An organised and efficient approach
  • Fantastic written and spoken English

Salary & Package:

In addition to a highly competitive salary of £50,000, you will be offered a selection of generous benefits.
