Assistant Building Surveyor Surveying & Project Management job in North london is available with a growing multidisciplinary consultancy delivering refurbishment, remediation, and building safety projects across London and the South East.

This role offers exposure to residential, education, heritage, and commercial property projects alongside experienced Chartered Surveyors and technical specialists. You will assist with surveys, condition reports, project administration, and refurbishment schemes while developing your technical and professional knowledge.

The position provides structured APC support, mentoring, and opportunities to gain practical experience across fire safety, cladding remediation, and compliance-led projects. You will work closely with internal teams covering architecture, cost consultancy, and fire engineering while attending client meetings, contractor progress reviews, and site inspections throughout varied project stages.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assist with building surveys, condition inspections, and defect investigations across multiple residential and commercial property types
• Support preparation of specifications, tender documentation, schedules of work, and project administration duties across refurbishment schemes
• Attend site inspections, contractor meetings, and client discussions alongside experienced Chartered Building Surveyors and project teams
• Contribute to cladding remediation, fire safety improvement, and building compliance projects across occupied buildings and estates
• Support contract administration duties and monitor project progress throughout refurbishment and maintenance project delivery stages
• Develop understanding of JCT contracts, construction legislation, and Building Safety Act compliance requirements within live projects
• Collaborate with architecture, fire engineering, and quantity surveying teams to support multidisciplinary project coordination and delivery
• Assist with preparing technical reports, maintaining project documentation, and supporting senior surveyors across multiple active commissions

Skills & Experience Required

• RICS accredited Building Surveying degree completed or nearing completion within a relevant construction related discipline
• Strong interest in progressing towards RICS chartership and developing a long-term surveying consultancy career
• Good understanding of construction methods, building pathology, and maintenance principles across varied property sectors
• Awareness of current building regulations, health and safety requirements, and wider construction industry standards
• Strong written communication skills with confidence preparing clear technical reports and project related documentation
• Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively within deadlines
• Positive and proactive attitude with willingness to learn from experienced multidisciplinary construction professionals and consultants
• Confidence using Microsoft Office with interest in developing knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and similar software platforms
