A creative thinker with robust technical knowledge, to join a small but rapidly expanding high-end residential specialist architectural practice to manage a small team, lead projects and assist in the growth and direction of the business as a whole.

Based in Kensington with a team of 3 permanent staff and 2 contract staff, the practice specialise in the high-end residential sector. They tend to work on properties from £1million – £10million+ in prime areas that include Kensington and Holland Park; and as such have the opportunity to design bespoke doors, furniture and fittings for a number of their elite clients. They are also affiliated with a successful Interiors and Lighting design practice.

Their current projects include 4 townhouse renovations in Kensington, a variety of extension and new build work on the periphery of London (including a Code 5 Sustainable Homes project), 3 major renovation projects to Grade II listed properties and 4 apartment schemes; all in prime conservation areas of London. They have also recently tendered on 2 hotel schemes and hope to be working on these shortly. One is a Grade II listed in Nottingham, and the other requires new build boathouse style dwellings in an area of outstanding natural beauty, along with severe flood risk levels; therefore providing a complex technical and design challenge.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To take ownership of all allocated projects and lead, manage and deliver these schemes through all work stages
  • Client management
  • Lead and manage the architectural team
  • Generate new business for the firm and assist in pushing the company and their projects forward

Required Skills & Experience

  • RIBA Part II qualified or above
  • A minimum of 5 years professional UK experience, preferably all of which has been gained in the high-end residential sector
  • A strong understanding of UK building regulations and planning
  • Robust knowledge of technical detailing
  • Fully AutoCAD literate
  • Knowledge and experience in the hotel sector would be advantageous

The Director is particularly keen to hear from candidates who possess a wide spectrum of supplier contacts and self-run projects from A-Z, of any scale; therefore demonstrating an understanding of the process and detail at each phase.

Salary & Package

The successful applicant will be offered a salary up to £45,000. The Director would consider profit share options for candidates that are able to contribute to the growth of the firm by bringing new clients in to the business.
